Dear Engl 217,

I have completed my two week quarantine period for Covid and honestly I am so relieved. It was not a fun experience and I do not recommend being infected. It is just so disappointing that you can be really careful from your side but get affected due to the others who do not bother wearing masks or practice hygiene. I am feeling a lot better now. My sense of smell isn’t completely back but it is getting better and I am constantly exhausted. Hopefully, I am able to go back to being normal. Spring break was very relaxing, I started reading books again. I finished reading Paula by Isabel Allende (it was very sad and inspiring at the same time). Now, I am reading The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. My friend suggested it to me and she said she really liked it so I am giving it a try. I started journaling, for real, with a book and a pen. I wouldn’t call it a diary but I have been addressing different prompts that will help me be more mindful and expand my emotions. Finally, I started a thirty day Yoga Challenge and I am a week in. I never finish any of the challenges I start but I am very determined to complete this one. So far, life’s been good.

Prof. Otte asked the class to consider the following question: Is there more to discover within the topics you’ve explored, or do you want to shift gears into something new? My answer would be that I am not entirely sure but I would like to shift gears into something new. While exploring the graphing calculator and NYC’s parking problems was fun, I would like to learn other new skills. I want to expand my horizons with writing. I am excited to start the Lab Report because it is the one assignment that will be the most useful to my major because I write at least two lab reports every week for the my Chemistry and Physics classes.

Warmly,

Teju
